I have been told that before sterilization, I should let my dog have a pregnancy and that pregnancy protects against mammary tumors. Is this true?

Both of these statements are false. Female dogs do not necessarily have to become pregnant before being spayed, and unlike women, there is no correlation between pregnancy and the prevention of certain cancers, including breast cancer.

However, it is important to know that in recent years there has been a real revolution in the guidelines for sterilizing dogs, both male and female, so sterilization is not necessarily required or recommended.
